WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | ASHLAND, KY

Some of you may remember that I had a contest to give away a free wedding to a very deserving couple.  You can scroll through the archives or click on the link to read more about the first annual wedding contest Wedding Contest.  Well the winners of that contest were Katelyn Krivchenia and Chris Eastman. Their wedding took place this past Saturday and I am so glad I was there to share their special day.  They are such an amazing, fun, beautiful, kind, and easygoing couple that I have enjoyed every minute of their wedding process.  I feel like a better person because I have gotten to know them; and there is no doubt in my mind that they will go on to touch many lives. 

The wedding ceremony and reception took place outside and if anyone is on the fence about an outside wedding let me just say how beautiful it was.  The natural light from the sun setting was amazing and allowed Joe and I to captured some really beautiful images.

PHOTO SMILE BOX | WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | ASHLAND, KY

Joe and I had a custom "Photo Smile Box" built and I was so excited because we were able to use it for the first time this past Saturday at Katelyn and Chris' wedding. For those who have never heard of a smile box it is similar to the photo boxes you will find in malls where you go in and take a series of pictures and then the pictures pop out.  Same concept.  We are so excited to be offering this as a complimentary add on to all weddings booked in 2009.  It is a lot of fun and a great way to involve your guests in your wedding.  Here are some smile box images:

NATURAL LIGHT NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY | ASHLAND, KY

Oh how I love shooting newborn sessions.  The session I am sharing today was shot with all natural light.  I went on location to their home and we shot everything right there.  It was a great session and it made me fall in love with natural light all over again.

HOLY SUN FLARE BATMAN | HUNTINGTON, WV WEDDING

Oh Man am I a sucker for Sun flare.  First of all let me explain sun flare.   Sun flare is actually not visible to the naked eye but can be picked up through a camera lens.  My favorite sun flare is at sun set and that is when these images were taken. Capturing sun flare is not easy but I encourage you to go out and try it.  It is usually best captured on a high aperture and a low shutter; which means you will need to hold very, very still.  These were shot around F22.

I had to see how it would look in Black and White. - Maybe my Fav!

So everyone grab your cameras and try to capture that elusive sun flare.  Good Luck.

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY | ASHLAND, KY (IRONTON, OH)

What a great day today.  Today was a busy day but the sun was shining and it was beautiful outside.  And if that weren't enough I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family.  This little one was all of 6 days old.  She was the best little thing.  When she slept she slept hard and allowed me to work my creativity.  When she was awake she had the best eye contact I think I have ever seen in a newborn so young.  Such a little doll.  Here is one image with more to come.
