WE HAVE A SUPRISE....

We will not be hiring a Band/DJ for Saturday night of the reunion.  Instead Chris Pullem had an excellent idea for entertainment.  The details are being worked out so I can't reveal it yet but I guarantee it will be so much fun.  Speaking of fun we had another reunion meeting last night and let me just tell you that this reunion is going to be such a blast.  It has been great just getting together and catching up with everyone.  Last night it was me, Leslie, Missy, Jimmy Gibbs, Chris Pullem and Carmen Moon popped in for awhile.

A GREAT MEMORY...

David O'Brien sent me the nicest email; I'll let you read:
"20 years ago i used to take pictures in high school in our last year. i went
through my album here and i found a picture of Martin that i took of him in my first class. i
thought out of respect of Martin and the rest of the class i would like to share it. 
i know how much Martin meant to everyone.

Thanks David.  Seeing this image immediately took me back to high school and thinking of Martin.  I have nothing but great memories of Martin.  He was funny, nice and sooooooooooooooo smart - do you all remember?  I'll share a little story - I think it was 1991 when the Tomcats Football team went to the state tourey in Louisville.  It was me, Angela Dezarn, Kerry Vanhoose, Scott Osborn, Chris Pullem, Martin, Chris Ronay and Chris Irwin. (Maybe others.  Forgive me it has been almost 20 years) We all went to Louisville, stayed at Chris and Eric Ronay's place and just had a great time.  Went to the game, partied a little,
partied a little more, partied a little more, anyway you get the picture.  Later that night at Ronay's a bunch of Louisville friends came to visit and we immediately knew we were out of our league.  One guy walks in with "666" tattooed on his forehead.  The guys will not admit it but we all were scared!  Even with liquid courage we were scared.  So our group left and on the way out Martin cracked a joke about that guy to that guy!  We all cracked up laughing while running to our cars! :) Bottom line is Martin was hilarious and so much fun to be around.  Martin was a great person who somehow made you stand a little taller whenever you were next to him.  Anyone else have a memory they would like to share? Thanks David for taking me down memory lane.

Our class has lost 5 classmates: Martin, Robin Stewart, Angie Kazee, Willard Shepherd and Bryan Gearhart.  Please feel free to share any memories you may have.  Here is one from Curt.

"That all was well said. Here is one that I will never forget. 5th grade at Hatcher Elementary. It was some type of law enforcement day. The State Trooper told us all that day, to look around at everybody involved in the classroom and that on average 2% would not reach 25 years of age. There was only about 20 kids in the classroom. The 1st person I noticed was sitting right next to me. He was Robin "Bud" Stewart. Robin was the most soft spoken person I recall from Elementary. I moved away to Greenup that summer and lived there for 2 and half years. When I moved back in the beginning of 8th grade Varity was a huge school. Nothing like it in Greenup County. Robin was one of the 1st to lend me a helping hand around the school. I recall him taking the time to show me how to work that damn combination lock on the locker. Robin is 1 of 5 classmates we have lost. I think we all should take the time to recall the good times because one day you are here and the next you could be gone."

Jud Anglin has been found.  Hopefully Jud will chime in here and update us on what he's been up to these last 20 years.  We still have several on our MIA list so anyone out there able to help locate classmates would help us out tremendously.

OFFSPRING REVEALED...

The classmates' children I had posted previously are Will Tanner's.  Will was in town briefly and asked that I take some portraits of his children.  I am glad he did.  Will's kids are amazing - so much fun and so agreeable to my crazy suggestions.  And for all of you out there wondering about Will - he hasn't changed a bit.  He is still as cute as he was in school, funny and just a pleasure to be around.  I had a great time catching up.  Here are some images of Will with his kids.

POKER NIGHT ANYONE?

Curt Clevenger had an idea he asked me to share with everyone.  After the tailgate on Friday night whoever wants to can come back to the Steelworkers Hall and have a Poker Tourney.  Curt is calling it a Texas Hold'em and Beer Fest!  So anyone with any questions or suggestions should contact Curt; He has volunteered to organize the whole thing.

DETAILS...

Mike Grinstead emailed me with a great idea.  He would like an RSVP list so everyone can see who is coming.  While the weekend is finalized not everything is final yet.  Here are the details that we do know for sure:
Friday August 29th - tailgate for the Tomcats 1st home football game against Raceland.  This will be catered by Giovanni's. This will be at Missy Quillen's  homestead.  The city has been nice enough to agree to block off the street for us so there will be plenty of space and parking.  After the game, for those of you who don't want to go home, we have a facility where we can all get together.  There is even a poker tourney in the works.  (BYOB of course for this). 

Saturday August 30th - Dinner / Dance.  Casual Dinner that hopefully will be catered by Chili Willi's (not under contract yet) .  Chris Pullem and Scott Neill are arranging the details for the entertainment.

Sunday August 31 - Cookout / Picnic for the entire family.  There will be corn hole, inflatables for the kids, and catered food.

The cost will be approximately $95-$125.00 a couple.  Not sure of the single price yet.

Several suggestions we have received that we are working on:
1.  Arranging childcare for the classmates who are out of town and have little ones.
2.  Some classmates have suggested a time to get together without their spouses. 
3.  Some don't want a dance just a Dinner. 

So if you have any suggestions speak now!  Obviously we can't please everyone but we want to do what the majority wants.
