Carolyn Clark Slatcoff...

Hi, eveyone I can't believe its been 20 
years, everyone seems to be doing great.
I've been pretty busy too I got married 
in 1990 to Eric Slatcoff and we livied in
Bioxi, Ms for awhile and then we moved 
to England he was in the AirForce. After 
we left military life we moved to PA and 
then his work bought us to Baton Rouge were
we have lived for the past 12 years. 
We also have a wonderful little girl named
Kristen she's are ray of sunshine. We 
won't beable to make the reunion but I hope
you all do the movie like you plan it 
would be great to see everyone. As 
some of you know my mom has sold tickets 
for the tomcats football games so if you 
see her she'll have a picture of me 
and my family. I hope to hear from 
some of you all soon. Have a great time!!

JOE AVILA'S STORY...

After HS I attended The University of 
Colorado and West Virginia  University 
on a football scholarship. In 1994 I 
graduated with a degree in education. 
At that time the only thing I was 
certain of, was I did not want to teach. 
Student teaching should be the first thing 
you do. So, I headed south and ended up 
in Miami working as a scuba instructor 
for a live aboard fleet. We did 7-14 day 
trips for 30 passengers throughout the 
Bahamas and northern Caribbean. I 
eventually earned a Captains license 
and began running trips for the company. 
After five years of fun and sun and more 
than few trips to Havana, it was time for 
a change, so I headed to the oil 
fields in  the Gulf of Mexico 
and the Bay of Campeeche. 
I Captained supply ships 
in support of offshore oil 
platforms. After a couple of years 
working 72 hour days I decided to 
settle down with my longtime 
girlfriend Christina. We had met 
several years before when her 
family vacationed on my boat. 
We actually managed to have a successful 
5 year long distance romance. She 
graduated from college and moved 
to Melbourne Beach, Florida with me. 
I wanted to stay local so I started 
commercial and charter fishing 
out of the Sebastian Inlet. We soon 
married, spent 3 weeks in Prague 
and Czech country side on our 
honeymoon, bought a little beach 
house, a yellow lab and started a 
family. We were blessed with a little 
wild man named Kane; he is 100% plus 
all the time. I also started working 
for an Oceanographic firm during this 
period. My work weeks are now spent 
traveling around the south east, 
Caribbean, Central and South America. 
I am usually home on the weekends and 
don’t stray very far when I am there, 
I love being home. We usually spend our 
time four wheeling, offshore fishing, 
snorkeling and at the beach.

DEADLINES TO REMEMBER...

The closer we get to the reunion the more we are pressed to finalize details.  Some important details for you to remember (and respond to):

SLIDESHOW PRESENTATION:
Chris Ronay had a great idea with a video slide show.  I have spoke to Scott Neill and he said that he can arrange to have  a projector and screen at the reunion and we can show a continuous slideshow.  What YOU need to do:  (1) Download the images you want in the slide show to a DVD.  or (2) Email them to me and I will download them to a DVD.  If you have already sent me images and they are posted on the BLOG then I still have those and I will include them on the DVD.  My email:  julie@juliethackerphotography.com

FRIDAY NIGHT GAME SHIRTS:
We will be selling Maroon and White Tomcat Shirts for the Game on Friday night.  The shirts are $10.00 each and include Adult and Children's sizes - so remember your kids!  Because we are having these printed up with our logo/slogan I need to have  your orders no later than Aug. 1, 2008.  We will be announced and have a seating section reserved at the game so it would be nice for us all to have shirts stating who we are.  Speaking of that - (CONTEST) We need your input for a slogan / logo. Get your creative minds thinking and submit your ideas to me.  I will post them on our BLOG, Classmates can then vote on the final one.  I will then announce the winner and the prize.  One last thing...

AN EMAIL FROM CRISSY CORWIN SMITH...

I got an email from Crissy about her 
thoughts on our class.  Crissy I hope 
you don't mind that I have posted this 
but I have to say that I agree with you.
I feel no matter how far apart we are or
how old we get we will always share a
special bond and some great memories.

Julie,

I think it really goes to show what 
a special class we were! Now that I 
have a middle school child, I am 
very reflective on my middle school and
high school years.  I don't know if 
it was just us or if times have changed but I
just did not have the problems 
that other kids are having now!   
I just felt everyone was very nice 
to me no matter how "popular" or 
"unpopular"  I was. How great is that?  
Now that we have this blog I tend to 
think we were a unique group. 
A group always has it's problems, 
but I think our class is really 
showing how great we were and 
still are today!

Again, thank you so much for 
all that you are doing!

BARRY STEWART'S LIFE STORY...

Stewart Family - Lex. KY

After graduation I went to EKU, 
graduated and quickly married 
Lisa Biggs (Boyd Co.) and recently 
celebrated our 15th wedding 
anniversary.  I worked with 
Toyota Eng. (Georgetown Plant) 
for 8 years and stayed on the
road (Japan, Michigan and 
countless hours of overtime).  
After we had our second son 
I realized my time needed to 
be focused on the family and
I have since moved to a new 
company who makes Forklifts.  
I still travel globally and 
work many hours but the 
opportunity has afforded me the
flexibility to focus on my Family.  
Lisa also graduated from EKU and has
progressed thru the marketing world 
and is a partner in a consulting
practice which has grown to be a 
global business.  We call ourselves 
the world's greatest Tag Team and 
have even enjoyed dinner in the 
airport as I was flying in and she 
was flying out.  We purchased 
a farm near Grayson in 2001 
and spend quite a bit of 
time with family there.
Because of this we don't 
make it to Ashland much 
but we do spend time
with family on the farm. 

 

The kids...what can I say other than 
it's a dream come true.  We enjoy
every minute with them and are 
involved in everything (Tae Kwon Do,
Football, Baseball, Soccer, 
Motocross, Hunting, etc...).  
Cal (Calin) is 13 and his All Star 
team won the KY State Championship 
last weekend.  We are heading to 
WI next week for Regional and hope 
to go to New York for the World 
Series in August.  Cam (Cameron) 
is 8 and he is an "animal"!
I don't know what else to say 
other than he is the most loving and
aggressive child I could imagine 
and there is no telling what his future
holds.

 

All is well here and we hope 
to be at the reunion.

Chris Ronay's Idea...

Here is an exert from an email that I 
received from Chris - "I have a 
question for you- will you have a way 
of playing  videos at the reunion?  I 
was thinking that maybe those 
of us who can't make it can send in 
some videos to play during the reunion.  
I know that I will get together with 
Chris Irwin and Scott Keifer over the 
next couple of weeks and we will film 
something just to say hi to everyone.  
Kick the idea around for a bit and let 
me  know what you think!"  

I think it is a great idea!  

Let me talk to Scott Neill 
- (he is the guru on videos) - 
and see what format would be best.
